Welcome to Week 1 of the One Room Challenge! I am so excited to be a guest participant for the second time. I will be transforming my living room over the next eight weeks so please subscribe below for weekly email updates.
I just realized yesterday that the One Room Challenge was delayed due to the craziness that is our world right now. Fortunately, for me, that means I get to participate and finally transform my living room into the glam space that has been in my head for the past three years. Can you believe I’ve done nothing to my living room in three years? I.CAN.NOT.
Here is the rundown of how this works. Every spring and fall the One Room Challenge showcases 20 featured designers and a host of guest participants while they transform one room in six weeks. Well, this year there are two extra weeks since you know…Coronavirus. The pandemic puts a little bit of a spin on things since social distancing, store closures. delayed shipments and actively trying not to die on a daily basis impact one’s ability to successfully pull off a design challenge.
As you can see, my living room is beyond boring right now. All of the furniture in this room will be staying so watch how I up the glam factor while working with and around my existing furniture. I feel that this is how “real” people tend to decorate. It is rare to start from scratch when there is no good reason to get rid of furniture. I’m pretty sure I just turned into my mother with that statement but that is what we are doing with this room. Plus, we are in the middle of a pandemic and shopping for furniture is less than ideal.
Make sure you follow me on Instagram. My IG stories will have all the behind the scene details and I might even explain why there is a hairdryer in my living room in this picture.
I am a Pinterest junkie and finding inspiration on Pinterest is always step 1 of any design plan. I love to throw a bit of glam into any design and the picture below was my original glam inspiration. I took one look at this picture and knew that I had to do a gallery wall of iconic glamorous black women. This project is in the works. Everything else in my design plan evolved from this one idea.
