Welcome to Week 3! The week where nothing productive happened. Actually, I decided that I needed to
figure out what accessories I may want to include in the room so I can get to ordering them. Y’all know
deliveries are a mess due to Covid-19 so I figured I’d better hurry up and order anything I felt what
necessary. The only problem is nothing is jumping out at me as a must-have. You know how when you’re
not looking everything you see is calling your name but when you are looking nothing jumps out at you.
I am feeling the latter. The stores where I live are not currently open and when they do open I will not be there for a while. So, we are going to say less is more for this makeover.
The picture above shows some of the options I’ve selected as possible accessories for the living room. At a minimum, I need one huge piece of art that will flank the media cabinet. It should be large enough to balance the barn door which will be on the other side of and it needs to tie the colors in the room together. This is an important piece. I have had my eye on one piece from the start but decided to look around just for the heck of it.
Styling my gigantic coffee table is a must. My inspiration photo has a chess set on the table so that could
be an option. Of course, the usual books, candles, flowers, and trays are also tried and true items for
coffee table styling. Likewise, the mirrored console table also needs to be styled. I’m looking for
matching table lamps and something unique to display that won’t break or fall off of the table as my son
runs by. He recently fell into his 50” TV, cracking the screen, so my concern is warranted.
I plan on hanging the TV on the wall so I’m also looking for something simple to sit on the media cabinet. I keep telling myself less is better, less is better. How long do they say it takes to learn a new habit? This is definitely new for me but I think it’s the right choice for more reasons than one.
The wall over the console table is still a mystery to me at this point. This wall has the doorbell and
thermostat on it as well but I’m going to ignore them in their entirety and decorate around them. I am
leaning towards doing a collage of family photos. Possibly, older photos that will coincide with my
glamorous vintage photo theme. Pictures of Jameson and I just don’t seem to fit unless I turn them black
and white. Hmmm. We will see.
